Bela Lugosi

A shadowbox tribute to Bela Ferenc Dezso Blasko (Bela Lugosi) Oct 20, 1882 – Aug 16, 1956. The illustration of Bela and the candles are prints of my original drawings. The inner frame is metal; The papers in the background, inner frame and on the altar are all acid free scrapbook paper. The flowers on the altar are paper.

Ofendas are an essential part of the Day of the Dead celebrations. The word ofrenda means offering in Spanish. They are also called altares or altars, but they are not for worshiping. Ofrendas are set up to remember and honor the memory of their ancestors. I have taken to making these ofrendas for iconic actors and famous people who inspire me.
