About Creepy Christine

Christine lives in a house full of strange things and has trouble sitting still. If you're interested, she would happily be commissioned to do some twisted wedding invitations, drawings of your children as little monsters or stand in the closet making ghost sounds at your next dinner party (post pandemic, of course).

Artist Statement

My artwork features intricately detailed black ink drawings which are incorporated into innovative paper products, toys and oddities.

Things that inspire me are Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, decorative papers, plants that look like they came from another planet, forest creatures and moths. But this list grows constantly. I’ll go off on tangents and get obsessed with random topics - imps, cookie cutters, chess pieces, giant squid, mandrake root, cautionary tales…

Ideas for new work have a way of just popping into my head. It’s like I have a dusty old cabinet of curiosities in my brain and every once in a while some odd item falls out – “Oh look a Nasty Clown coffin shaped toy.” The root of these ideas can often be tied back to people and events in my life, as well as said random topics. Ask me about any particular book, drawing or card and there very often is a convoluted story behind it which has processed through the crazy alchemy lab of Creepy Christine’s mind.

The theme of 2020 was assemblage shadow boxes including two "Reflections on 2020" pieces.

2021: Most recent work is the "Mythical Series" inspired by a commission based on a Jackalope art car.
